I have been looking forward to Shawn and Caci’s wedding for so long. It is always such a huge honor to be trusted by other creative’s to photograph their most important day. I love their laid back attitude when I heard they were having BBQ and custom made doughnuts by Glazed and Confused I knew their wedding was going to be a “win”. It was my first Strawberry Margarita doughnut, and holy cow, why isn’t that a more popular one to find in the assorted box at the office?!
It was so beautiful the way that Caci honored her father who passed away by wearing a heart patch of one of his old shirts inside her dress, keeping a chair in the front row with his photo and hat, and by walking down the aisle with his cowboy hat. There was not a dry eye as she held his hat close to her heart, and it was by far one of the most toughing moments I have been a part of at a wedding. I also learned something very important about cowboy hats – always set it down “upside” down so that the luck doesn’t spill out. How have I made it this far in life without knowing that!?!
The ceremony couldn’t have been any prettier – the light, the mood – everything. Caci and Shawn were surprised by their wedding party after they were announced as man and wife with an A Cappella group singing “All You Need is Love” – yes, just like in the movie Love Actually. It was years ago when Caci was watching the movie with her Maid of Honor and mentioned that “better happen at my wedding!” Caci had since forgotten that she said that, but all this time later Amber remembered. How cool!
Caci not only had a party dress for the reception but she also had a second pair of heels for the evening. How she danced in those things is beyond me, but it is a sign of a true woman. Shawn also had a more dressed down reception outfit, and every guest naturally followed that vibe. We snuck away fro a few minutes before the departure for a few minutes alone with the couple, and it was HILARIOUS to see Caci’s face when grandpa busted them making out in the hallway. I mean, you are married now guys, so I guess he’ll get used to it 😉 Thank you guys for being so great and for throwing such a fun party for me to photograph! –Jo
