Oh where to begin?! This year has already proved to be another memorable one. I love how we continue to attract genuine, fun and creative people who truly appreciate what we do. Cara and Evan showed me that love at their fantastic wedding at Blanc. We arrived to the warehouse loft in RiNo where they guys and ladies were getting ready. We swooned knowing after seeing that it was a perfect compliment to Blanc! I was a photographer in paradise with the quality of light that we had in the spaces for Cara to put her dress on. I remember how excited she was for Evan to see her in her Anne Barge high low dress. Boy was he excited when he saw her at their first look. This is one of my favorite moments to be a part of. I have the challenge of capturing this slice in time where it’s just the two of them meeting on the day that they’ve been waiting so long for. I love the raw vulnerability that’s in their eyes.
The other great thing about doing a first look is that we were able to plan time to go have a beverage with the wedding party! After parading down Larimer St, we flooded into Ratio Beerworks. Everyone roared with applause as we made our way up to the bar. After they enjoyed a craft brew, we continued to Blanc. Talk about another photographer’s playground?! This was my first time that Katie and I photographed here. I loved the simple, rough and raw elements balanced with the modern, clean design of the space.
As if I couldn’t get any happier, Cara and Evan snuck off to another location that I’ve been waiting to shoot at… a greenhouse! Calabrese Greenhouse was so accommodating by letting us wander their grounds. Their security guard kitty even greeted us at the door and bid us farewell. We then scooted back to Blanc to make it official in front of their friends and family! I felt like a member of the family at this point because I had familiar faces in their wedding party. You remember Christina and Colin and their lovely wedding last fall, right?
It was so great to witness Cara and Evan share their vows and then celebrate with the people closest to them. One of my favorite touches that they thought of was having beautiful smelling candles from Anthropogie spotted throughout the building. They say that smell is one of the strongest senses connected to memory. I’ll always remember how pure and sweet these two are! Thanks Cara and Evan for sharing your day with us! Ryan and Katie
