Melanie and Eric tied the knot last July at the truly majestic Dunafon Castle in Idledale, CO. The castle was completed in 1941 and nestles alongside Bear Creek. The flowing water and lush green landscape conjuer images of the great castles of Europe. Photographing on the grounds of Dunafon Castle is a photographer’s dream. Both inside and out offer endless opportunities for unique portraits. The bridal suite is adorned with lush fabrics and furnishings that complement the era of the castle. The lower half of the castle is open for wedding guests, however, the upper floor is for private use. The giant property has, among many other photo locations, a water wheel that supplies the river and small pond, a moat around the ceremony space and sprawling green grass with developed trees throughout.
The cermony is held outside on an island under a rod iron canopy. Guests look on from across a moat. Receptions are held on the lower part of the castle in a warm room surrounded by stone and a roaring fireplace. Larger receptions can take advantage of a tent that connects to the outside patio. Other possible locations for the reception and dancing are on the roof of the castle. This environment offers the most unique location to dance the night away while in the treetops that surround the castle.
