Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield is one of my favorite places to photograph. It always has a suprise waiting for you and no two weddings are ever alike. Kristen & Eric had someone smiling down on them because their wedding broke the norm of the rainy days we have been having here in Colorado and the sky opened up for an incredible Spring day. I am so glad because they deserved it. Living out of town, Kristen & Eric had to work a little harder to plan their wedding. Luckly they had the help of many including Kathy, Kristen’s mom. When I first met Kathy we clicked right away. We laughed our meeting away and even spent some time in the photo booth. The livelyhood of Kathy and the way she talked about her daughter and future son in law made me know that Kristen & Eric were going to be special.
We started off the day getting ready at the little cottage at the gardens. She allowed me to play my favorite “guess the dress” game and I was pleased to admit that I was wrong! She bore a huge smile as she pulled out her soft flowing light pink dress. Kristen kept her smiling face as she went into make-up (which I thought she already had done!!) Here bridesmaids hung out in their custom robes embroidered with their names and attended to her every need. These girls were power bridesmaids as they made my job so easy too! Back in the yurt, the guys messed around, played fooseball and drank beer. The things that all guys are really good at.
The whole day was so fun. The guys joked along with me as I tried to learn their names and all had a proper “goofy” face. The girls would laugh together without anything being said, so almost no direction was needed. Some of my favorite moments were when the crowd cheered as Eric walked down the aisle, when he pursed his lips and held back his tears when he saw his bride for the first time, the pow wow the best man Mark had with Kristen and Eric as he handed them their rings and Kathy hugging her husband Jim as they watched Kristen & Eric dance for the first time as husband and wife.
There were so many great things about the day, I could go on and on, but instead I will leave Kristen & Eric’s day about pinky promises and forevers. I am so happy for them and their families. They make an beautiful bride and groom and an even more amazing couple! Congratulations!
Thanks to all the awesome vendors!
