6:00am Allie, Kourtney and I were drinking our coffee in the car on our way up to Nora and AJ’s sunny morning wedding at the Wedgewood Inn in Boulder. It was a little early, but nothing our excitement wouldn’t overcome. I really couldn’t wait to see these two get married and we tried to plan a timeline that would allow them some time to wake up instead of the hours and hours of photography I could have done with these two. Little did I know AJ was up EARLY EARLY. He just couldn’t contain his excitement to marry Nora and so his body woke up and told him he was ready much before he needed to be. I just think this speaks hugely to the kind of relationship that Nora and AJ have.
When I went into the room with Nora she was calm and collected, totally ready to see AJ and say the “I do” that will last forever. The room was buzzing with all the girls doing hair and makeup, last minute choices on which necklace to go with which dress and with each move that Nora made all eyes would shift to her. They were all there helping each little moment, decision, and supporting. It was a buzz of building energy and happiness that is hard to describe in words. I felt like a fly experiencing a historical event. It was a cool atmosphere.
The moment of the first look was so so beautiful. Nora descending the stairs to the creek at Wedgewood Inn, the look on AJ’s face was of shear anticipation and knowing the only thing in the world he cared about right now (or for the last 6 hours) is seeing Nora. Her hand on his shoulder broke his gaze and the scrunched smile of containing his bursting excitement appeared. Oh was it cute.
And this was just the start of the day…
The morning went smoothly. The wedding party was as fun and charming as Nora and AJ. I wanted to secretly snatch them all up and make them my friends. How they talked about each other, built each other up, the excitement on their faces, everything about their relationships with Nora and AJ shined. Showing how deep and true these relationships are. The support for the wedding was a conscious choice by each and every person there and then celebrated with incredible zeal. The toasts were laced with sweetness, memories of conversations when AJ & Nora first met and dated, and funny antidotes.
It was an incredible morning, perfect in sunlight and smiles. I could go on forever about these two. But those of you who know them know.
Congratulations Nora & AJ. You guys are it, and now we get to all say that forever!
