I have become a sap for love stories of all kinds. Especially the ones that go way back to high school in a small Iowa town. Even though I can remember days when Teresa and I played on the same softball little league team, went to the same elementary school and attended the same church service every Sunday it wasn’t until recently that I knew I was meant to be her wedding photographer.
Believe it or not this is actually about Sam and Teresa. My little flashback was only inspired by the fact that these two are high school sweethearts! Since their high school days are now long gone (not really THAT long gone though) they have moved over eight hundred miles away from home together, bought a house of their own, one adorable puppy a couple of mountain bikes and are officially residents of Denver!
They sound pretty cool right? That’s not even the beginning of it all, but the best part deserves a little background story.
I have never met a couple that loves the Iowa Hawkeyes more than these two, and I can remember the exact moment that I realized how intense this love was. I’ve watched a few games with these two, but one in particular stands out. Since I’m not a huge sports wiz I can’t remember most of the details from that game, but the important part happened when the game ended. Once Sam and Teresa realized their team had just won the game and continued their undefeated streak I witnessed the most epic run, jump and hug in mid air combo by these two. My jaw would have been on the floor – except I couldn’t stop laughing at how ridiculous that was.
Now the best part of their story is their engagement story. The one where on January 1st, 2016 Sam and Teresa were about to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes play at the Rose Bowl, but before the game could even start all the excitement that would happen that day took place. Right in front of the stadium where the game was to be played, Sam got down on one knee – grabbed the ring from his sock (very sneaky Sam!) and asked Teresa to marry him. Of course she said yes, and now here we are!
I am so excited, thrilled and honored to be Sam and Teresa’s photographer. I really couldn’t have asked for a better couple to travel back to my hometown for! -Allie
