Every once in a while you get the chance to do something you always dream of. As a photographer, photographing outside of your state is one of those dreams. We obviously take our cameras everywhere picking up what little things we can in picture form. What when you get to do what you love and excel at on somebody else’s turf, you get really excited. You think that would be enough for this wedding. But it went above and beyond my dreams because I had the honor and privilege of photographing my uncle’s wedding! I have never felt more special then when you get to capture memories for someone you love. I was so so happy to be able to be a part of their day. I just couldn’t wait.
The day was more than I could have imagined. La Jolla is already an incredible place. The botany blows me away. It is lush and green and prickly and oh so intricate. Everywhere you go there are new Dr. Seuss plants I have never dreamed existed. The ocean and coast is obviously beautiful as well. We had such an amazing location though that we didn’t need to go anywhere else. Steve’s good friend of many years was kind and generous enough to not only let them use their incredible property but also gift them the decor and glamour of a once in a life time wedding. As we walked around the property were were oooing and ahhing at the pond, architecture, swimming pool and more. It was so dreamy. Then we got to see the tent. OHHHH the tent. It was spectacular. Like nothing I have ever seen. It set a mood that is indescribable. It was elegant and elaborate. It was shiny and fun. It had every element of a celebrity wedding. I was floored. Sonya at Productions by Parker had put together a dream realized by Steve’s lovely friends and it was pulled off to perfection. I was not surprised by the latter of the two because I was already honored and star struck to be working with Sonya who does so many big events in San Diego.
Some of my favorite things? The tent, of course, and seeing the reveal. The food by Terra Catering & Events was an incredible vegetarian meal I could have gone back for again and again. The dance party was all night disco under the disco ball and DJed by Manny Alfelor. We danced our little hearts out!
There was a lot of beautiful things to look at and wow moments of this wedding. At the end of the day, the most special was seeing my uncle marry the man that he loves. I had only met Adam once before this and immediately fell in love. He was like family so quickly. I adore everything about him from his fun loving nature to how much he makes Steve smile. I love that smile. It was so incredible to be asked to be a part of something that was intimate and inspiring. After 5 years, they are married and I couldn’t be happier.
Thank you Steve and Adam for letting me be a part of the start of your marriage. I am so excited to continue to watch it flourish over the years. Now you have spoiled us with elegant parties, but my heart is full just being able to see you happy. We love you very much. Congratulations!
