life. We love capturing your most important memories from your
wedding day. Based out of a beautiful studio in Denver, we travel all
over and photograph all of Colorado and beyond.
We are an award winning studio and have won The Knot's Best of Weddings two years in a row and Wedding Wire's Brides Choice Award three years in a row. Read a little below to get to know each one of us individually.
McCory
James - Owner/Principal
Growing up in Great Falls, Montana, McCory learned to appreciate art at an early age. His grandfather was a well-known painter and sculpture and his mom loved to decorate homes. After a college photography class, McCory was hooked. In his free time, he took pictures whenever and wherever he could.
McCory worked as a web designer for many years before making his passion his life’s work. In 2003, Elevate Photography was born.
Since that time, McCory has photographed dozens of wedding throughout Colorado and beyond. His outgoing personality and laid-back style lends itself to capturing your special day without any stress.
McCory is the former President of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP) Colorado Chapter and a member of Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI). His work has been featured in numerous publications, including The Knot, Modern Bride and the book "Plan Your Wedding…In No Time".
In his free time, McCory enjoys traveling, soccer, hiking, reading and spending time with his wife, Kelly, and sons, Landon and Carson.

Ryan Erickson - Principal Ryan Erickson joined the Elevate Photography team seven years ago and is one of our principal photographers. When Ryan isn't running off to a portrait or wedding gig he is using his amazing Lightroom and Photoshop skills to do create post-production to all the imagery our studio creates. He also adeptly manages album and reprint orders. A Colorado native and a graduate from the University of Colorado at Denver with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, Ryan found that social documentary photography proved to showcase his abilities. Working closely with people is his greatest strength and he has taken that skill set and puts it to good use when photographing weddings or portraits. In his spare time, Ryan enjoys the many activities that Colorado has to offer. He enjoys spending time with his friendly pooch, Louie, riding his motorcycle and traveling abroad.

Katie
Walker - Associate
Elevate Photography welcomed Katie Walker to the team two years ago as an associate photographer. After graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder with an Arts Degree in Photography, Katie's decided that her love of photography and passion for people was a perfect fit to pursue a career as a wedding and portrait photographer. The joy of spending time getting to know people and sharing their lives and special moments pushes Katie to capture the moments with creativity and care. Katie's passion for people extends past her photography career. When not shooting she loves spending time with friends and family, bringing everyone together with a some great cooking and a lot of love. |

Stephanie
Whitehill - Associate
After spending a year second shooting weddings, Stephanie joined our team as an associate photographer for the 2012 season. Stephanie started working with a wedding photographer in high school where she learned that she loved being a part of weddings and interacting with people. She decided to pursue photography in school and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Fine Arts Degree with an emphasis in photography before heading west to Colorado. In her free time, she love to bike, cook and hike with her husband, David.. |

Patrina
Harris - Production Artist
Patrina was born and raised in New York City and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from the School of Visual Arts, widely considered to be on of the nation's finest art schools. After moving to Colorado, Patrina joined the Elevate team as our in-house production artist and uses her exceptional skills in post-production and album design to make our images come alive and give our clients amazing albums. In her free time she loves to travel (her favorite place was her father's homeland, Jamaica) and check out art at galleries and museums. She also is known to grill a great steak! |
